Hi Randy,

I just got done watching the video and have some questions.

1.  Can I just buy a premix of sand/Portland ready to just add water? Products like Quickrete (like at Home Depot or Lowes?)
2.  How come you did not discuss a preslope before the liner was installed? Is the preslope important?
3.  How deep does the wetbed need to be at the shallowest point?  You made your flange 3/8" high. Is that minimum or is 1/4" OK?
4.  How long do I need to wait before skimming with thinset over the deckmud?
5.  How long before I can tile?

Thank you for your time.
Alex

PS:  Can I call you to ask a question if I feel I need to talk directly?
The premix cement and sand will work, but it's a lot harder to work with and it will not be as strong.

The slab in this video was already presloped when the home was built
I make my beds at least 5/8 of an inch deep.
And slope 1/4 per lin foot
You should wait until the next day to skin the floor with thinset,
And you can lay the tile that day as well

Yes you can call me on my cell phone, the number is on my web site.

Mr. Randy I was wondering if you could give me some advice and I would also like to
purchase your video on Shower pan installation. I live in Hawaii I have an older home
single wall construction. The shower is about 52 yrs old and being replaced.
The old shower lath with tile on it and it has a high curb on it, the shower
stall it self is about 3’x3’. The wood walls were damage bad by termites and
are being replaced. What I want to do is put Durarock on the walls and makes
a mud pan and my wife doesn’t want a curb if we don’t need one in case we have
to use a wheelchair in the future. I need your advice on how to construct the
pan and finish the shower myself.
Thanks Gary Faber
Hey Gary,
I just build a handy-cap shower stall a few weeks ago, I used Red Guard, it's a water proofing liquid that you get at Home Depot.
You should mud the floor just a little under were the pan will go, giving the floor just little fall,
Then install the pan as you see in the video.
You will cut the pan at the threshold or were the curb would have been.
Use silicone underneath the pad at the curb to help hold it to the floor and provide as a seal.
Then you will install the mud bed as you see in the video,
At the threshold or were the curb would be build it up there but on the outside you should
make like a curb or a little ramp with the mud.
Than after the mud is try and the backerboard is installed use the red guard on about 6 inches up the wall and on the floor mainly at the curd area.
